Landscape ArchitectureWhile it is the finishing touch on most projects, the landscape design is critical to the visual experience. The design team will perform a site visit to discover significant land forms, dominate plant materials, vistas, and evaluate adjacent neighborhoods for additional design concepts. The second stage involves further research. This may involve internet searches, reading archived newspaper articles and possible interviews with initial landowners. The fourth stage is to take all of the information that has been collected / discovered and move the theme from a “vision” to reality. Coe & Van Loo’s design team takes the process to the next step and produces a series of ideas to be presented to the project stakeholders. During this process the stakeholders start to refine the final “vision” or theme by listening to each other. The final theme is made much stronger by not making compromises, but instead listening to each stakeholder and finding “The Third Alternative” were there is a win-win situation. CVL’s Landscape Architecture Group has been closely involved with Public Parks and Recreational Facilities for the past 50 years for both public and private clients. The design process for Parks and Recreation Facilities is very similar to the Theme Development process. A partnership is developed with all interested stakeholders in order to provide an exceptional end product to the community. A design charrette is scheduled in order to gather as much information, along with park programming requirements. After considering all needed requirements, CVL’s design team prepares and delivers several design concepts to the stakeholders. CVL uses its strength as a multi-discipline design firm to provide a cost-effective design for the municipality while providing the citizens a place to enjoy. Our firm provides several different options for project delivery to many of the local municipalities. These range from the standard process of contracting directly with the jurisdiction, to working through a land developer to provide a completed park. The latter option has key advantages over the standard process. By working with a developer, the municipality can be delivered a finished park site in a timely manner and is more cost-efficient than the standard process.
